Tracy Colletto’s music is a powerful symphonic blend of piano-based pop with authentic lyrics and a voice that is unique, yet somehow familiar.”

— Bree Noble #1 Award Winning Women of Substance Radio & Podcast

Current Bio

Singer, songwriter and keyboardist Tracy Colletto previously issued the album Home, boasting the single “The Promise,” which earned an “Honorable Mention” in the John Lennon International Songwriting Contest, and the single “Too Many,” which was voted by listeners into the Top 20 Indie Songs of Women of Substance Radio & Podcast. Early praise for Chocolate Happy Cake includes the singles “It’s Over,” “Complete Peace” and "Stay" being voted into the Top 20 Indie Songs, and the album garnering global radio station rotation, including terrestrial stations WXPN (Sleepy Hollow) and WSTW (Hometown Heroes). In addition, Tracy’s single, “The Ride,” is a recent nominee for Best Alt. Country Song at the 15th Annual Independent Music Awards.  Other recent accolades include being nominated for "Best Indie Female Artist" by Radio-Wigwam in the UK out of thousands of other contestants; being a finalist in the Musikarmageddon Solo competition; and being “First Runner Up” at the Triad Music Fest Songwriter Standoff.

Chocolate Happy Cake is a watershed album for Tracy in terms of songwriting, poignant lyrics, deft and nuanced keyboard playing, carefully orchestrated and textured performances, and richly expressive vocals. Over the album’s 12 intimate tracks, Tracy explores struggles, aspirations, inner journeys, and redemption. Ultimately,Chocolate Happy Cake is an album of hope and personal revelation that traverses majestic piano balladary, ethereal pop, anthemic, pop-rock, orchestral pop, and pastoral roots music all tied to together by Tracy’s singular artistry.

The album opens with the stirring mid-tempo rock single, “It’s Over,” which features a rich tapestry of elegant piano playing, gritty guitars, and soaring vocals. The song’s urgency seems point to a romantic breakup, but Tracy is actually positing another kind of let-go. “It’s about getting over internal baggage, and accepting who you are,” she shares.

Other album standouts include “Stay” and “Complete Peace.” The ethereal piano ballad “Stay” is a sweetly enlightening confessional. The aptly titled “Complete Peace” is a gorgeous slice of orchestral pop replete with majestic strings. It details a narrative of how years ago Tracy quit her miserable job, paid two month’s rent, and went on an epiphanic cross country journey. It represents Tracy’s invigorating live-for-the-moment spirit, and it also reveals the origins of the album’s name. During her trek, Tracy stopped at a friend’s house who baked her a chocolate birthday cake while she slept. In the fevered moment of sweet inspiration, the friend left off writing “Birthday” on the cake so Tracy awoke to a delicious treat emblazoned with “Happy Tracy.”

Chocolate Happy Cake was produced by Grammy Award-winning producer and engineer Glenn Barratt. Glenn assembled the lineup of musicians, including Michael G Ronstadt (of Ronstadt Generations), well-known Philly bass player Chico Huff, and Erik Johnson and Kevin Hansen, both formerly of the charting modern rock band, Huffamoose (“Wait”). The entire cast performed with sensitive intuition, respecting Tracy’s vision for the album, and providing delicate and emotionally dynamic musical support.

“All I know is that I’m supposed to sing,” shares Philly-based singer-songwriter Tracy Colletto.  It’s something she’s always known, even back when she was a shy little kid singing privately and writing songs in solitude.

What Tracy could never say in person, she could always say in song, and, a lot of those times, she kept her poetic words, heartfelt openness, and exquisite songcraft a private pursuit. Now, Tracy boldly steps forward with her finest collection of elegantly emotive pop, her sophomore album, Chocolate Happy Cake, produced by Grammy Award-winning producer and engineer Glenn Barratt (Melody Gardot, Jill Scott, Elton John, Diana Ross). It’s an album rich with sentiment and enlightenment through sharing a personal journey of self-acceptance.

“I’m old school,” Tracy says laughing. “I write songs based on my life, and within each song is some thread of transformation—a will to overcome and persevere.”

In conclusion, Tracy says: “I needed to share these stories, and this album gave me the courage and the confidence to step out. I have a clear head now, and I feel so inspired writing for the next release.”

"Over the last 2 years, we've had what could be described as an ongoing love affair with the music of Tracy Colletto. The compositions from this strong-hearted and articulate artist have proved popular with our listeners and the DJ team alike, conveying her characteristic resilience, as well as exposing some of her hidden frailties. Her nomination for Best Female in our 2017 awards was very well deserved." – Mike Green, Radio WIGWAM.
