  1. Forest

From the recording Far Between

My parents decided to relocate 500 miles from the suburbs to a new community in a forest. It wasn’t my choice but over the years it grew on me.

Lyrics

Washed-out roads, water snakes, an empty lot, an empty lake
This rough and wild place with skies of Carolina blue
And kid here’s where we’re gonna stay, a far cry from the Garden State
In time it all will be okay, a change will do us good

I’m in the forest again, day dreams taking me back when
We lived in the forest
Our little piece of wilderness, where we were adventurous

Broken ground and flowing springs, perception changes everything
Especially when you can grow the seeds that you have sown
The call of whip-o-wills at night, our story whispered through the pines
Of all the thrills and all the trials, that made this place our own

I’m in the forest again, day dreams taking me back when
We lived in the forest
Our little piece of wilderness, where we were adventurous

It was another lifetime, miles away
But it’s as close to me as if it was yesterday

I’m in the forest again, day dreams taking me back when
We lived in the forest
Our little piece of wilderness, where we were adventurous

And I returned not long ago, the roads are great, the lake is full
But gone are the souls from those old days of us in the forest
